VENICE CARNIVAL MASKS

 

My most beloved subject is certainly represented by these beautiful, hand-made masks and costumes showing off during annual Carnival in Venice. 

My first time at the Carnival was way back in 2008 and, since then, I've been practicing every year in creating images more and more unique. 
I am always fascinated by the way these people can move and be expressive with their bodies and their eyes, withou showing their face. 
During these years I have developed a portrait-like style, prefering full images, extreme close-ups and giving all my attention to details. 
I try to avoid turistic and typical shots of the masks and pay a lot of attention in creating the "perfect image", or actually setting everything in the right place, at the right moment.
